Birthday Tidings and Games

Today is my birthday. I’m pretty non-excited about that. By that I mean I’m not big on celebrating my birthday; however, I enjoy the small benefits which I am accorded upon the date. People are generally are less douchey, which is nice, and if you request for time off (which you never get to do anyway without a god damned court order or you’ve had to shoot a relative in order to have a funeral event take place) you can have some small glimmer of hope that you’ll get the time off. Let me temper this small rant with the fact that my shift lead actually isn’t a douche bag. He’s pretty cool and if I really wanted to take time off, he’d make it happen no matter how fucked up it is for the rest of the shift. This is exactly why I don’t ask for time off. I don’t like screwing over my co-workers. On the upside, we’re getting some additional staffing. Yay! I’m pleased.

I just noticed that Battle: Los Angeles is going to be playing on the 11th. I’m most pleased, I intend to see that post haste. That’s going to be pretty awesome, now if they (the powers that be) would hurry the hell up and come out with a District 9 sequel that would be fantastic. It would also be nice if this nausea and headache would subside for a long enough time frame for me to actually feel good rather than on the verge of vomiting (see what I did there) regularly.

Which reminds me. I played Two Worlds? That game is pretty terrible. It also made me motion sick. Ugh, but Dragon Age II? Fan-fucking-tastic. Kind of like the debauchery that’s going to be taking place over the course of the weekend. ;)

Heo Yun Mi Red Dress (Korea)

I want if eating that would make me feel better? Probably. Mmmm..

Long Time No Type

Well, this is unfortunate. I had an entire post lined up and ready to go, but needed to reload my browser to troubleshoot something at work. WordPress is supposed to take snapshots as you are creating your blog posts so that you don’t lose your stuff from a browser freeze or other unfortunate incidents. Guess how well that works out for me. Exactly.

Today I had breakfast with the company president and some of my night shift. It was pretty good food, I’d eat there again on my own. The conversation was also pretty good. Listened to a lot of information about the direction (some small things and some bigger things as well) the company is going to go in. It was very informal and relaxed. Better than any meeting I ever had at my previous job.

I’ve been playing a PS3 (as if I own any other console right?) game by the name of Demon’s Souls. It’s a difficult game by default, but it feels pretty rewarding when you manage to conquer something without failing miserably. The punishment is stiff for failure, so it helps to move extremely cautiously and turn in your souls often to upgrade so you don’t get killed on accident.

My life, and by life I mean my rotation of waking up going to work and being a zombie for hours before going to sleep and waking up just to repeat it all again, is returning to normal; however, normal just means I’m sleeping less and working more. ^_^

I had an interesting and rather enlightening conversation yesterday (err really it’s kind of more like super early this morning, third shifter and all), and I’m hoping these conversations continue with some frequency and regularity. Anyhow, I’m tired and I need to go to sleep before I’m zombified all the way out. Oh, got my flippin’ postfix install to relay mail properly again. I mucked up the order of my head checks and relaying suddenly broke all to hell. That only took like 3 hours to figure you. =-/

Later gators: KaBLAM! Hotness:

Behind or beneath? Behind or beneath? So difficult to decide!

Playing Final Fantasy XIII

After the epic PS3 disaster, I’ve returned to playing Final Fantasy XIII. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve been slowly making my way back to where I was originally. It’s been a long hard road playing through all the linear content again, having to skip the tutorials, watching the (really fucking beautiful cut scenes) again. I could skip those, but I’m not a monster, how dare you suggest such a thing!

The one upside to this situation is that I have a better handle on some of the fights that were difficult the first time around, because I know what I’m doing this time. Yay! I have to say that the linear beginning of the game is really annoying. Can’t say I’m a fan of the leveling system either, but putting the game down is an exercise in futility really. I just had to get over my initial anger and resentment. Okay, so I’m not over that part yet, but I’m working on it? ;)

I am looking forward to Thursday already. Last night’s work sucked pretty hard and I was tired when I left. Not just, “Oh, man I’m kind of tired I should take a nap.” I mean mentally drained, soul crushed tired. So I didn’t even bother playing (I’m about to do that now) and I’m pretty certain that several of my friends are annoyed with me because I haven’t answered any of their message. Oops.

I should probably call the lady back that wants her son’s laptop bag back as well. I’ll get around to that at some point. The machine is dead; motherboard fried. I don’t think there’s any real hurry in the matter. Her son should have taken better backups. I need to get paid for pulling that data off of there though. It’s like 75 dollars worth of work.

You'd look good on my lap. Yes, yes you would.

What I Thought Was

What I thought was, I’d have a new and interesting person to talk to by the name of Jin. Had an interesting conversation with this person the other day. I’d like to continue that. Might be building a wordpress site for this person. I might even host it if they ask nicely.

It’s my Friday, and I’m really excited about that. Not that I’m going to do anything, because I don’t get paid until Monday and I’m broke. Yay me. I have to stop by someone’s house and install Adobe for them because I took away their administrative capabilities because I hate having to go back and forth to their house to repair stupid things like, “Oops, I got another virus for the 5,000th time and I can’t figure out why. Fix it right now!”

I started playing Final Fantasy XIII yesterday, absolutely fantastic; although linear at this point in the game. I hear it expands outward later. I hope so, because I’m kind of bored with the way it’s going at this point. I’ve only been playing for about 6 total hours though. So I can’t really get down on the game yet.

I also have Star Ocean to finish up, but I just haven’t been on top of it due to fatigue from the job (they are mentally killing me there) and the fact that I have been super focused on Heavy Rain. I swear that game is just out of this world awesome. I downloaded the soundtrack too, because even that is awesome.

I just woke up like 45 minutes ago after sleepin’ part of the day. I guess today was my catch up day because I haven’t slept worth a damn for the longest. As a side note, yes, I know you can’t really “catch up” as it were on sleep.

Here comes the money shot:

Hour glass just doesn't do it justice.

Heavy Rain — Again

Finished off my first run through of Heavy Rain officially yesterday. That was pretty fantastic. This game has all the elements of a pretty decent movie if one were so inclined to film it. I’m a big fan of Madison Paige in this game. A strong and sexy character, if not sometimes a little overzealous. Maybe that was my playing of her though. :-) I think I may have put too much of my own decision making under the given circumstances to the characters. A lot less caution, more “fear is temporary, the goal is more important and we must reach it no matter the cost”. I’m going to put much more thought into how I view each of the character’s personalities so that the story plays out differently. I enjoyed the ending I got though, which is really the goal of all games right, to enjoy the ending?

I had been looking forward to this game for such a long time that I was almost prepared for a colossal let down, as has happened in the past; however, I was totally surprised. The entire game is freakin’ awesome. I hope QuanticDream puts out a lot more on this franchise through DLC, or creates a few more games in a similar vein.

I think I need to see a doctor. I’ve got this whole motion sickness thing that’s been going on for like two weeks now. Sometimes it’s okay, but most of the time I feel pretty unwell when I track items with my eyes or if I move a little too quickly from one direction to the other. It’s really freakin’ unpleasant. I’m sure it’s something stupid.

I was chastised about my penchant for Asian chicks. In fact, I was told not too long ago that my penchant for Asian chicks was a bad thing. Holy crap whiskey-tango-foxtrot?? Certain phrases were used such as: school boy looking, formless, flat as a board.

Really?

Hmmm...less cloth, more on your hands.

I had carrot juice for breakfast. Fantastic!
