So, lately I’ve wanted to do nothing but scream and possibly murder a number of people who believe that they’ve done nothing to further my sorrow/pain/suffering/whatever. As a result, I’ve taken to listen to the following songs repeatedly, hoping to achieve catharsis through music.

EveryDNS apparently is shutting down their service. What does this mean? It means while trying to access kuei-jin.org, there have been multiple failures because they didn’t notify me of the switch over. I’ve moved DNS, and gotten kuei-jin.org back up on the Net. It would have happened sooner, but I don’t control DNS refresh times over at DynDNS, sorry.
I’m traveling to Kansas City tomorrow morning, and will be participating in some festivities/introductions before heading back Saturday night as I have to work Sunday night. Good times.
I’ve taken some time off from work (and blogging, and everything else really) because I’ve been pretty unhappy with the way things have been transpiring. As a result, I’m a happier, kinder, gentler, prata; however, I believe I’ll be moving to Germany for a while (if there are any jobs for me there). It won’t be long, possibly a year or so, because I do not foresee my current place of employment providing me with more paycheck, and I think I deserve more paycheck than I’m getting currently. I’ll have an update on that in the coming weeks. Go Team Venture!
So, it would appear that San Francisco police officers first shoot a man, and then proceed to not offer him any assistance while he bleeds out on the side walk. Awesome. This is a 19 year old kid who apparently ran from the LEOs over a 2USD bus fare. They claimed he had a gun; however, you can hear witnesses (this is mildly graphic, if you don’t like blood do not watch this) asking where the alleged gun is located. News reports say that the gun was found later (err, wait what?)

steRling, one of my best friends. He and I live somewhat far apart, due to circumstances beyond our control at the time, but we try to get together as often as possible. He and I share a lot of the same interests, long range shooting (LRS) as an example.
As a result, we spent the last weekend honing and picking up new skills. Both of us are new to LRS but we both are big on researching topics. So, we each (him more than me I think) spent a lot of time researching what the best entry level rifles were to obtain and how best to go about creating conditions under which we can learn the most about ourselves and our rifles in the least amount of time to gain proficiency.
steRling came up with some really good information; although all of it wasn’t necessary put to use over the weekend, we did manage to zero our rifles at 100 yards and to see the potential of our rifles. First, some stats:

Now to the fun stuff. steRling I believe is a much better rifleman (or will become a much better rifleman) than I am or will be. I think he’s got a certain knack for things that I believe I don’t have. I can take a lot of instruction from him in the future. I feel he just has a better sense for that sort of thing. I’ll keep up on my progress moving forward.
On the other hand, I believe I’m a better pistol shooter than steRling. It’s a little too early to say, I have more trigger time and less “issues” to work through regarding the pistol (steRling is kind of at a disadvantage due to how he learned to shoot early on); but I imagine that as he’ll always be one step ahead in the rifle game I’ll be one step ahead in the pistol portion.
This could of course play out significantly differently moving forward. Maybe he’ll out class me in pistol work and I’ll out work him in the long range game, but as it stands right now I think a little competition between the two of us will serve us well in getting better. In the end, when the zombie apocalypse comes we’ll both be more than capable of staying alive.
