Powder and Ninja

For those of you not in the know, Powder is a a Border Collie/Chow mix that is 11 years old. She hates strangers, she hates people outside within view, and she will chase you and bite you if she gets loose and you don’t vacate the premises. She’s a good guard dog, but she’s eleven years old. She’s a good companion, and when she dies, she’s going to be missed. I will probably shed a couple of tears.

Enter Ninja, a German Shepherd puppy, that tests my patience a bit, but is going to be a great dog. He sits at my side and stares at people as they walk by. He doesn’t bark really, but if his father is any sort of dog to judge by, he’s going to be fearsome when he finally does open his mouth. Ninja will make a great companion along with Powder as he gets older.

Interestingly, Powder had some adjusting to do. She doesn’t like to share, and she feels that anything given to Ninja should also be hers. They are slowly getting over that now though. What I find really funny, is that she is much more playful with him than in the beginning, and even has gone so far as to want to go outside and insist that Ninja come along. She wakes him up by licking him and then heads to the door.

It’s both cute and funny I suppose, because she seemed very resistant to participating in any activity with Ninja when he first arrived. Now she offers her shoulder to him when they play so he has something to bite. The chow in her makes her extremely thick-furred, so he can’t actually get to her skin. It’s just all around interesting, and I’m a fan of the entire pack mentality. Hopefully Powder gets some get times out of their interaction together before she’s too old to play around much.

Any how, good times!

And what everyone comes here for:

Ju Da Ha - Korea

Going to have to open your mouth a bit wider to make this happen.

The Machines are Coming!

You like awesome stuff right? I know I like awesome stuff. I classify many movies (mostly not Hollywood movies) as awesome stuff. So imagine what I thought of when I saw this neat article about creating cells from non-carbon atoms: http://bit.ly/tKRZLQ

Now, let’s hope this progresses well, and in a couple hundred years we’ll have something akin to this, I could only hope:

Optimus Prime - Cybertron

And I'm sure they won't try to enslave us or anything.

New Addition to the Pack

So, I’ve added a new member to my household pac, a German Shepherd that I’ve named Kuroi Ninja. When I first brought him home, Kuroi Ninja was just Ninja, and he was afraid of everything in the yard. Currently, he’s grown a very big dog mentality, but hasn’t quite gotten the physical growth behind him to show it off. Though he does try with Powder, who is twice his size and very tolerant of him despite her old age.

Interestingly, he’s looking at a dog two yards over, that he was terrified of on his first trip out into the yard. Now he seems to be thinking, “Herm….he doesn’t look so tough.” The dog in question is quite large, bigger than Powder, and tends to get off of his tether very often. His favorite trip is to my yard, because Powder is an unspayed female. Interestingly, Powder doesn’t spend much time outside, because she is allergic to grass. The result being, she’s never outside and she’d kill him anyway. She’s not fond of other dogs. I’m surprised Kuroi Ninja is as tolerated as he has been.

He's a German Shepherd

I see him over there, he doesn't look so tough.

Ryu Ji Hye - China

Take the hoodie off, I like to see your eyes looking up at me.

Grey Skies

I’m beginning to think that I might want to move to London or something. I get a really pleasant feeling when the skies turn grey, and it looks like it may pour rain from those heavy looking clouds. The air is mostly still, and you can smell the coming downpour; love it. What I don’t love though is London. I have no desire to live in London, even if their climate agrees with me more (precipitation wise) than the weather in my current location.

Managed a win today, U-verse is available in my area. After arguing with AT&T about the availability of the service in my area, and finally getting someone that knew what they were doing, I have service that will start on the 12th. Apparently, they won’t just hook up the outside fiber. They want to come into the house and perform a test that the “modem” is working. I explained to them that I work in IT and don’t require their assistance; however, I was stonewalled. They are going to have to come in. That makes prata sad.

On the upshot, I’m more than quadrupling my speed. I’ll chalk it up as a success. In other news, I had a debate with someone about the human condition. I’ve written about the human condition before, and I was appalled at some of the things coming out of this person’s mouth (actually it was their fingers, but that’s besides the point). At some point the statement was made that humans are codependent creatures and that you should stay with someone that you don’t have a healthy relationship with simply to keep children or a child happy.

Obviously, I found this completely incorrect, and I stated as such. I followed up with what the definition of codependency is and that generally speaking a poor state of mind to be in. I followed this up with several facts and pieces of information. This person actually turned into an ostrich and put their head in the proverbial sand. I was disgusted, and sad for them. Well, whatever they want to do with their life, it’s not my problem and they aren’t my friend, so whatever.

You know what time it is:

Fanna - China

I don't think I could turn down a look like that
