Oh how I wish I had it, then when I nodded my head and agreed with my Director that “deepening my role” would be a good thing I’d have foreseen the stupidity in that act. Maybe a better thing to have done would have been to ask, “Does that mean I’ll be doing and contacting people that is management’s job to accomplish in the coming week?” He would have said yes, and I’d have asked for a raise. Yeah, really wish I’d have been more force sensitive at the time or something so I could have seen that coming.
Every year there is a report that is brought to me (in a Word table no less lol) that requires combining fields and exporting to an application that is running on Access as a platform. 1. That application is constantly being broken by such grievously moronic things like, oh I don’t know, people doing what they were told the application was supposed to handle. Imagine if you will a car that broke every other time you drove down the street. You’d be pissed off right? Well yes, the users are pissed off. 2. That application has _no_ real import tools for the types of reports that are generated by the different facilities my department comes into contact with regularly. Although, okay I am confused how any department runs a report that outputs in Microsoft Word, why??
Well, I’m in the process of upgrading this application, yay. It’s going to be another 3 weeks. Anyhow, this report. It’s a list of physicians, and the physicians have IDs, which are only printed out (or exported out of any database) by a completely separate department from all the departments that actually track what physicians are where (such as the GME office or something). Neither of these departments talk to one another, and every year management gathers this information for me to transform and mold into something that our appplication can import properly for the nurses to have a neato keen table.
Not this year boys and girls, this year I get to call people! The problem is, I don’t know who the people are, and I don’t know what list I’m asking for; however, I’m doing it! I also get to pull out the duplicate physicians and the physicians who have left or have in some other way become excluded from the app. The problem with this is, I don’t have a clinical background. I don’t know any of that information. Someone is goign to be angry when it takes a month for me to get this little project done. ^_^
Yah, I’m just venting. Ignore me. On the upside!
Just once, I'd like to see this in plain sight somewhere so I can gawk IRL.
Of course I can give you a ride to my hou--er I mean the park. No really, come over.

Hwang Mi Hee is tre bunny. I wonder if she’d like some candy? I keep a supply in the trunk of my car.
I got an e-complaint from some guy on a distribution list for an online learning report I generate. Apparently he forwards the information to students enrolled in the class and, rather than call the help desk like the online course says, they e-mailed him for support. He was upset that I, the report generator (not a member of the help desk), didn’t anticipate that they would have a problem and e-mail them first and offer to help. Apparently my job description includes psychic abilities.
