The Salem Witch Trials

If you can’t see the irony, you need better glasses. Much like the word terrorist, paedophile (thanks Grant, for turning me in hahaha…..bastard) pedophile has the same reactionary response. So does the phrase child porn. It’s really amazing what little things will set people off into having completely idiotic opinions about something. I read manga. I read a lot of it actually, and although I don’t make a habit of reading things that involve too much tentacle sex someone was arrested for collecting lolicon. Seriously? Seriously. He was also charged, and struck a plea bargain. Seriously.

America is scary in the way it works sometimes. If you believed even half of the things the politicians are saying about protecting your children from predators along with the sensationalism that the media drums up with their paedophile busts you’d never let your kids out of the house or online. Now, it seems that it’s okay to dictate what is obscene for the populace. I don’t think that’s normal. It sounds a little Orwellian to me. I feel cheap using the word, but since I think this is only the second or third time I’ve used it…you’re gonna have to deal. Have a look-see at this article and tell me that’s normal, it reminds me of the big deal with porn way back when. Interestingly, it seems that now manga (or comic books in general) aren’t “real” works of art and have no value other than to demean a target audience? How does that work exactly?

I would say that it’s funny that nobody has targeted “Lolita”, the book that lent its name to the euphemism, but then again I’m sure some fundie groups have tried to ban / burn it. Have you heard about “sexting“, especially the bit where our legal system thinks it’s a good idea to charge adolescents with creating child pornography for e-mailing nude photos of themselves to their peers? I’m against actual child porn, where real children are used and abused, but otherwise I think it’s just another attempt by the religious right to use the legal system to force their morality on the rest of us.

BTW, did you misspell “paedophile” on purpose to throw off the search engines of the federales? If so, then pedophilia bestiality terrorist jihad Satan anal sex booger ha ha on you, dude. :p

Oh, I totally heard about this “sexting” thing. Does that mean that when I was a teenager and screwing that I was participating in child porn? Jesus, half or more of our population should be locked the fuck up then. Good christ.

I did spell it that way on purpose and now you’ve just guaranteed a flippin’ visit from the government to my home. Thank you Grant…I appreciate your ummm…assistance?

    -_-

    Burn!

The only thing I have a problem with is the title of the blog entry: “The Salem Witch Trials”

If it were a true comparison, the witches would have been saying, “Yeah, we agree that we boiled frogs and such, but we did not use real frogs. We used images that we drew on paper and cut up in little pieces.”

I don’t see how making Manga illegal does anything to protect children, unless Manga is made in states where 10-year-olds are forced to draw the not-artistically-valued-images for 12 hours per day while also banging on copper kettles, to make their pee-pots.

I’d be happy to change the title for you! The comparison though is, “Let’s hunt for something retarded, punish people for it (and make a mockery of them and ruin their lives in the process) and say we’re saving our society.”

The Salem Witch Trials were basically that…do you have another instance in mind? I’ll be happy to go that route instead. I was actually pretty lacking in the title area.

Well all this pedophile crap has made ALL men second class citizens in the world.
    IMHO.
