Not Indicative, But Scary

I’m not a fan of Palin. I find her to be mildly shady and a little lacking in the whole brightness department. I wouldn’t want her to be President should McCain bite it. It’s just not very comforting to have a president that has a somewhat high likelihood of eating it while in office. McCain is ‘old’ and he’s had cancerous growths removed from himself. The stress of being in office could very well be his undoing. Of course, I could be very wrong there’s no doubt of that I’m sure; however, McCain doesn’t seem like the way to go in my opinion. Maybe a few years ago he was more of a real “maverick” (I think that’s the word that was thrown around about him), but now he seem like a more of the same sort and I don’t think our country can suffer much more of that.

Any how, I ran across this clip. I know it’s not indicative of the sort of people that support McCain/Palin; however, that doesn’t make it any more easy to swallow that some people base their vote on this sort of thing. All of the things that are going on in our country and there are people worried about blacks ruining our culture, yah that’s a great reason to vote for the other guy. I wish I could say that I was basing my vote on whites ruining black culture and not have me hanged by someone (seriously it’s beyond hilarious). Don’t worry, the fear of race is still alive in our country, promise.

  1. You need to see this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wroj0FLvzs.
It underlines the problems with Obama, such as that he’s an A-rab.

  2. Wow…..just, I’ve not the words.

Interesting. Obama supporters are out destroying property, stealings signs, engaging in wholesale voter fraud (investigations in 10+) states, vandalizing cars, physically assaulting McCain supporters, and you are worried about some people being bigoted. I’ve not the words either.

  4. Welp…I’m not sure whether I should giggle or if I should be irritated with you this time. Let’s clear the air, that way I don’t have to think you’re just attempting to incite some sort of ignorant response from me.

First, I’ve read exactly one article about a New Yorker assaulting a chick, that was approximately 5 minutes after I read your comment. It was listed as the first page of google results with the term “obama supporters physical assault” without the quotes. Yes, that’s rather disturbing as well, and I won’t attempt to rationalize that…I’m not all that interested in doing so.

Secondly, I received that clip from someone who is a friend of mine (hence my having run across it) and I found it disturbing. I stated so, and that was the end of that. Don’t come here and get snippy with me about it. I specifically said it’s not indicative of being a supporter of McCain/Palin (although I am not a supporter of McCain/Palin, I’m not a Republican..they are not the same party as from its inception nor am I a Republican hater)…I just said that the clip itself was scary. And it is…if you are a person of color.

Are you black? Are you mixed? Are you of some sort of minority where comments like that…or comments about blacks taking over “your culture” or “blacks destroying american culture” are not only insulting to you as a human being but are the kind of speech that incites people into harming people that look/act/ MIGHT be you? I can’t say for certain that you haven’t, but I don’t think you have directly experienced violence upon your person because of the color of your skin (as silly as it is to inflict upon _any_ person for that matter). I on the other hand have had to break a person’s clavicle due to such violence visited upon me because I am not white. I broke my hand on someone’s face in high school for calling me a nigger. I was jumped by three kids when I was 17 because, “niggers don’t belong in this neighborhood”.

I’ve also encountered several lower level incidents (not being waited on at a restaurant…being told that something was sold out despite that obviously not being the case when attempting to buy it…and a host of other denials of my right to be left unmolested due to my color…including being accused of stealing from a store because I didn’t buy anything but was comparing products for 15 minutes…seriously..the police _were_ involved)

So please….don’t turn this into a political discussion about which party’s supporters are worse..that wasn’t my point and I’m pretty sure you knew that. If you didn’t, now you do.

So, I’m going to calmly tell you to get off my lawn (old people say that don’t they?) lol or some such thing and to watch reading into what I say. Here is a disclaimer you can carry along with you and read if you decide I say something which leaves you without the words to describe what I find to be interesting even if it’s only interesting in that it seems dangerous/consoling/happy to my life.

Disclaimer: Simply because I say something about anything I see either online or have read in a paper, or have seen with my own eyes does not mean I immediately condemn every person that could possibly be construed to fall into that category in the most general of ways. It also does not mean I sanctify those that fall on the moderate/extreme opposite of the aforementioned event or that I am even aware of such things necessarily as I may not have had an interest in the subject other than what I came across on accident/by way of someone else/by way of research into a related item (such as having researched one of the tenets of the Eight Fold Path and discovering that something similar is mentioned in say a Hindu or Taoist scripture, simply by way of a foot note).

Does that work for you? Jeez. That’s just mildly amusing to me. You could have simply pasted a link and said…”Dig this.” I’d have happily read it and then commented about it. I’d have also told you that my post had little do to with politics, and more to do with people such as that…saying things…such as that…and supporting any candidate based on that criteria and less to do with what party they were affiliated with.

Stop Oppressing Me! (This is a joke…don’t get bent) ^_^

“So please….don’t turn this into a political discussion about which party’s supporters are worse..that wasn’t my point and I’m pretty sure you knew that. ”

Your denial would have more plausibility if you didn’t spend the first paragraph specificially bringing up McCain/Palin. This is another version of one of your “I’m just sayin’” posts. You’re attempting to paint yourself as a neutral poster of information while leading people to the conclusion you favor. It doesn’t wash. If your point was realy just that you were disgusted by the comments of bigots, you probably would have made no mention of candidates at all.

After further reflection, I realize I owe you an apology. If you say there was no political subtext, I have no reason to doubt you. It’s not like I can read minds. It struck a nerve in me, and I assumed. That was wrong of me, and I apologize.

  7. To your comment before the last…I could see how that might lead one to that conclusion. On the other hand, that’s why I split it into two paragraphs…opinion that did say I personally am not a fan (as I’m not a republican anyway) of the candidates, but there’s no reason why any republican shouldn’t vote for him…I mean really there isn’t it…if the age thing isn’t a personal problem for you..then sure…and like I said…if he’d run a few years ago…he’d have been a much better candidate (to me) than he is today and depending on how his campaign turned out I may have even voted for the man. I don’t dislike him as a human being.

My second paragraph was driving at that clip and to assert (probably poorly?) that despite how I feel about the candidates…it wasn’t about them..it was about those featured individuals. I know that just because you’re a republican you’re not a bigoted person hoping to exterminate or oppress minorities on the whole.

To your apology. Perhaps I did unintentionally lead you right down that path to “oh he’s bein’ sneaky and a bastard.” So I apologize to you for doing so even if it wasn’t my intent. I accept your apology.
