Transformers…

robots in disguise. I don’t mean to give away the plot and shit,
but…did you know that Transformers has…ROBOTS?! And they are IN DISGUISE!

I mean…seriously! Robots, robots that are in disguise. Holy fucking hell!

And it’s the most awesome movie I have ever laid my precious eyes upon. It was good. It was the salvation of my trust in American movies. Well, not really but it was the most awesome American movie I’ve ever seen. It was arguably better than ‘The Matrix’.

I’m not usually one for hype, but I went to see the movie because I just couldn’t resist. This was a live action of my favorite cartoon. I didn’t really like the Spider-Man cartoon, but I’d read some of the comics and I figured ‘what the hell’. I saw Spider-Man the movie and it wasn’t bad. It was actually really good, then the second came out and it wasn’t bad. The third one, I have to ask why? The third was just a retelling of the same stuff, no real new interpersonal action no new developments. Just, ‘hey we can throw Venom in here and profit!’ because you know everyone really did want to see Venom as the next villian. I know I did. Any how, Transformers was of course being looked upon by my self as possibly a broken movie. I went to the theatre.

When the lights dimmed and I heard Optimus Prime’s voice over, I felt the butterflies in my stomach start flipping around. The excitement of seeing ‘in real life’ characters that I loved, especially Optimus Prime and his pursuit of justice for all living beings a defining figure in my life. Several minutes into the movie and it struck me when the first transformation too place. Holy shit! Transformers was fucking awesome. They even had the sound. Everyone that ever saw the cartoon knows the sound I’m talking about. Yes, they had the sound and it was good. The movie was not just an action movie either, it was comical and not in a bad way. There was good plot, the major players of the Transformers were present. It was a good movie all the way around. There were a couple of questions left for me when I got out of the theatre, but they more of curiosity than movie spoiling.

Truthfully, it has restored to some degree my desire to see other American movies. If only they would take some of the better anime out there and convert them to live action. That would be really beautiful in my opinion. But that’s just me. Ghost in the Shell live action would be easy to pull off given Terminator and Matrix and Predator technologies. Also, Macross Plus shouldn’t be too terribly difficult after seeing Transformers. A live action Rurouni Kenshin would be good as well, and that’s not even high tech. We’d just need good actors and actresses.

Later days!
